  1. 1 · One file
↳ One file splits into encrypted shards across a ring of nodes. Point at a node to route packets to it; click to re-shard the file.
01

The problem

Most file storage lives on one company’s servers, which can read, lose or lock away your files. Storz encrypts every file and stores it on IPFS, a distributed network, so you keep full ownership of your data and can still share it easily.

What I built

01

Encrypted

Every file is encrypted with AES-256 before it is stored, so only the people you share with can read it.

02

Stored on IPFS

Files live on IPFS, a high-performance distributed network, so there’s no single server to fail or shut you out.

03

Share your way

Make any file public or private and share it with anyone, with unlimited storage and passwordless sign-in.

How it works

Architecture of Storz, one row per user action.
  1. Login / Signup: the frontend sends “Check token” via Magic.link; the backend does: Verify token; the user gets back “Authenticated”.
  2. Upload: the frontend sends “Sends file”; the backend does: Encrypt (AES-256), then Send to IPFS, then Save CID to database; it talks to IPFS (“Encrypted file”, gets back “CID”).
  3. My files: the frontend sends “Request files”; the backend does: Query database; it talks to MongoDB (“Query”, gets back “Metadata”); the user gets back “File info”.
  4. Make public / delete: the frontend sends “Update metadata”; the backend does: Update database; it talks to MongoDB (“Write”).
  5. Download: the frontend sends “Request download”; the backend does: Request to IPFS, then Decrypt; it talks to IPFS (“CID”, gets back “Encrypted file”); the user gets back “Decrypted file”.
